Fixed Term Deposit

Available to new and existing TNB clients, with a minimum of £10,000 and a choice of 1, 3, 6 or 12 months. The agreed interest rate is fixed, so you know the return in advance. You must have a TNB client relationship.

A minimum placement of £50,000 over 2 or 3 years. The rate is fixed from outset and the product is intended for money you do not need during that period. Interest is paid at maturity; confirm the applicable payout arrangement with your Relationship Manager.

You cannot add to or withdraw from a Fixed Term Deposit after its start date. Horizon also does not permit additions or early withdrawals, except in the event of the account holder’s death. Ask your Relationship Manager if access becomes necessary.

Plan for Maturity

The balance and accrued interest are credited to your current account at maturity. Renewal into a new term is possible only if instructed in the initial deposit request or if your Relationship Manager is advised at least three days before maturity.

A current account offers instant access and variable interest, with the flexibility to organise money into separate pots. Withdrawals and transfers are available without notice, subject to the account’s terms.

Your Deposits, Protected

Eligible deposits are covered by the Gibraltar Deposit Guarantee Scheme, subject to its rules. The current scheme limit is £120,000 per depositor at a credit institution, across all eligible accounts and currencies held there.

Your Questions, Answered

No. The agreed rate stays fixed from the start date until the deposit matures.

Yes, it is variable. TNB can apply a change in your favour immediately and write to you afterwards. A change based on the reference rate in the Price List may also apply immediately without notice.

Contact your Relationship Manager. Ask to transfer the chosen amount from your current account for the selected period at the agreed rate. New clients need to establish a TNB client relationship first.

Fixed Term Deposit funds are not available until maturity. Contact your Relationship Manager if access becomes necessary. Horizon does not allow early withdrawal except on the account holder’s death.

Money placed with a banking institution for safekeeping in an account, such as a current, savings or fixed-term deposit account.

Economic strength, inflation, government policy, supply and demand, credit risk and the length of the loan or deposit period can affect rates.

Inflation is an increase in prices for goods and services. TNB’s explanation discusses higher energy, fuel and food costs, labour shortages and supply-chain or transport disruption, including the effects of COVID and the war in Ukraine.
